Moscow’s authorities now report that 1,561 people died from COVID-19 in the month of April, not 639 as initially reported. The city’s health department stressed that the new tally included even controversial and debatable cases. The death toll from coronavirus was revised following new information from post-mortem examinations. The health department stressed that these new numbers put COVID-19 mortality at under 3% for the city but conceded that this figure will be higher for the month of May. Russia currently has the third highest number of cases in the world at 387,623 and the number of deaths stands at 4,374.
