Could the public be to blame for the lack of coronavirus testing in Ontario?

Ontario has not been meeting its daily goal of conducting 16,000 coronavirus tests. One reason for the shortage in testing is that not enough people are showing up to assessment centres. Some experts have suggested that this may be due to the public being unaware of the loosened criteria for testing. Last week, the province expanded testing criteria to include those with milder or atypical symptoms such as headaches, unexplained fast heart rate, falls, or pink eye. On Thursday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said that he wants to further expand testing criteria to allow testing for people who aren’t showing symptoms.
