Long list of businesses set to reopen in Ontario as province hits first stage of restarting the economy

Premier Doug Ford announced entry into the first phase of the “Framework for Reopening our Province,” for Tuesday, despite apprehension from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams. This means numerous businesses such as automotive dealerships, vets, libraries, sport facilities and so on can open with physical distancing measures put in place. These measures include things such as online ordering with curbside pickup, lack of sharing of tools between employees, restricting the number of customers to facilitate distancing, providing services by appointments and so on. The government is currently looking at the social gathering limit of five people outside of immediate household members, with an announcement expected next week. Nevertheless, large gatherings that cannot facilitate social distancing will continue to be prohibited for the “foreseeable future”.
