Students in B.C. are being allowed to return back to in-person classroom settings on June 1. However, in-class attendance remains voluntary and most students will attend part-time, typically only 2-3 days out of the week. Additional protocols will be put in place to promote physical distancing such as staggering recesses and lunch breaks, starting a more rigorous cleaning schedule for high-contact surfaces, and creating guidelines on desk configurations. The union of teachers is working on providing teachers access to personal protective equipment and balancing online classrooms with in-person responsibilities, as well as accommodating teachers with medical issues.
