After rising levels of infection in the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tightened restrictions in the UK including orders to only leave home for work, groceries, and other essentials. Gatherings are now banned and many non-essential shops and services are closed. Police will be enforcing the new restrictions. Johnson predicts the length of the lockdown to be three weeks but he acknowledges that this date is not set in stone. This order follows complaints from the public and criticism from the opposition that British parliament was not acting quickly enough following the rising levels of infection and implementation of tighter restrictions by nearby countries such as Italy and Germany.
